Northern Lights manufactures industry best optional equipment as well, including the highest performing enclosures in the industry. For convenience and operation, panels open for single side serviceability and their white, powder-coated finish gives the generator elegance without compromising its durability.

Water Makers

When HEM was founded, the founders were unsatisfied with the performance and reliability of the desalination systems in the market at the time. HEM then introduced a number of fresh water treatment systems including filtration, sterilisation and water softeners. Over the years, these products have been continuously improved and enhanced to provide excellent performance and reliability. They were able to create a system that engineers yearn to find in their engine rooms, and yacht owners trust when they have a glass of water.

In April 2015, HEM was acquired by Cathelco, a company with a background of serving the marine industry for more than 50 years. This brings together a comprehensive range of products and unrivalled expertise in almost every aspect of water treatment.
As Europe’s premiere manufacturer of water treatment systems, it comes as no surprise to find the highest quality materials, and craftsmanship used in all of their products. With every client, HEM designs the system to suit every specification and each unit is custom built to order.

Cathelco offers a portfolio of products for superyachts and commercial vessels. They are world leaders in seawater pipework anti-fouling systems which prevent blockages caused by barnacles and mussels in engine cooling lines. Another area of expertise is in ICCP hull corrosion protection, where Cathelco have developed systems specifically designed to safeguard steel and aluminium hulled superyachts. More recently, they have introduced ballast water treatment systems (BWT) with capacities from 34m3/hr upwards, making them ideal for use on superyachts.

The system runs quietly, based on the location of the condenser. The air handlers are unobtrusive in terms of space usage.Techicold products are compact and made from premium materials, with an intuitive design. The systems are efficient and environmentally friendly. Air handlers can be placed virtually anywhere on board. Controls in each air handler maintain individual room temperature and humidity levels. Technicold air handlers are available in several different configurations to allow for flexibility of installation.

Ballast Water Treatment

Cathelco is the largest producers of marine pipework anti-fouling systems in the world with a record of 50,000 installations over a period of more than 50 years. The systems are supplied to vessels of every type including commercial, naval, cruise ships and luxury yachts.

In 2015, Cathelco acquired Hydro Electrique Marine (HEM), specialists in the design and manufacture of desalinators and water treatment systems for luxury yachts. With a record of more than 4,000 installations, the company has a strong reputation for the quality and reliability of its products.
